Industry dominates here with a mix of factories and apartment blocks covering the landscape on the outskirts of the city boundary and beyond. My first experience of Shenzhen manufacturing was sourcing blow molds and injection molds . I travelled to a company outside the Shenzhen area and the special economic zone to neighbouring Dongguan. This factory manufactured injection molds for a project I was working on at that time. Manufacturing in the Dongguan area area is intensive, the environment suffers and it seems fuelling this manufacturing growth takes number one priority. Putting that aside if you are in Shenzhen or nearby to find a product or service you will do business here. You will more than likely come back to do business again. If you are looking for a reliable supplier and manufacturer you have to visit that company, there is no other way in my opinion to ensure that you have chosen the right partner. Even then if you have decided to do business there is still a lot of work to do to ensure reliability and quality. It takes time and perhaps many visits before you place that order. Of course it depends on the nature and scale of you interests.
